Santa Photos!
Please join us at Petsmart in Terre Haute for PICTURES WITH SANTA! Bring your furry (or winged or scaly) friends for a photo with Santa on Dec 1, 2 and 15 from 11am to 4pm. $5 from every package sold goes to Rescue Farm so come have fun and help the animals at Rescue Farm at the same time!
600 Adoptions!
On October 8, Rescue Farm hit 600 adoptions! Since we pull animals slated for euthanasia, nearly every one of these rehomed animals would have been euthanized in the traditional shelter it was rescued from. Please help us help the animals by making a tax-deductable donation to Rescue Farm. It is quick and easy by clicking the "Make a Donation" button at the left of this screen. Save a life or two today. Please help these Indiana animals with your donation!
Benefit Race
October 6th is a busy day for Rescue Farm. Please attend our First Annual Benefit Bike Run starting at 11am at the Spencer Shell Circle K Store. Bikers will travel to Bloomington, Nashville and Martinsville and then end up back in Spencer for a cook-out and door prizes. All riders will receive a free t-shirt! As always, if you are looking for a cute dog to adopt, please visit us that same day at the Terre Haute Petsmart from noon-4 and adopt a great pet!
Heartworm patient
Colonel is a beautiful German Shorthair Pointer who ended up at a local shelter. His temperment is superb and he loves kids, cats and other dogs. He is just wonderful but he does have Heartworms. We are looking for some special people to donate toward his treatment. If you would like to help sweet Colonel, please donate by clicking on the "Make a donation" button on the top left of your screen. Donations are 100% tax deductable. Thank you!
Sponsored Equipment
Rescue Farm recently helped the Owen County Dog Club purchase new equipment for their dog shows. Not only did it improve the agility equipment for the dogs, it also is a way to teach the children about the importance of spaying and neutering pets in our community.
Microchiiping
Rescue Farm is now microchipping all the animals with the Home Again Microchip. This means if a pet adopted from us gets lost and ends up at a shelter or at a vet clinic, the pet can be checked for it's owner and returned safely home!
New web advertisement venue
Rescue Farm is now advertising on an Indianapolis based animal friendly website called IndyPaws.com. Go there and check out all the wonderful pet information and see Rescue Farm's ad. Don't forget to register your pets for their own webpages and make sure you mention if you adopted them from Rescue Farm!
Petsmart Adoption Venu
Rescue Farm brings adoptable dogs to the Terre Haute Petsmart on HW 41 every Saturday from Noon to 4pm. Or if you prefer cats, come visit our kitties at the Terre Haute Petsmart available every day during store hours!
CanINE Express
A big thanks to the drivers for the CanINE Express trip transferring dogs from our local shelters to safe-havens on the East Coast. We are thrilled to help out homeless animals in our community and thank people like Gwen & Larry Blair shown here who transported our dogs in May!
Successful Adoption Weekend
A huge thanks to Vicki and Lauren, two very special volunteers, who spent their entire weekend at Petsmart in Terre Haute helping to adopt out our wonderful dogs and cats for adoption. It was lots of fun and several very special pets are now in loving forever-homes!
Sure sign of spring
The little kittens are now flowing in and that is a sure sign of spring! Please urge your friends and family to spay and neuter their pets!
Spacious new dog pens
A big thank you to all the people who donated fencing so we could put in 2 very large new pens for the dogs to enjoy some outdoor time!
Van paint job
A huge thank-you to Jeff at VanHorn for outfitting our van to really let people know when Rescue Farm is in town!
Snow and Ice
Over the past week Rescue Farm has seen snow, ice, and then even more snow! Matt, Rescue Farm President, decides to make the most out of a little free time by taking a ride down the rolling hills in front of the shelter.
Cat Room Improvement
The new cat cages have arrived all the way from Iowa! These are superior-quality cages that keep the cats healthy and happy and make the volunteers happy too since they are so easy to clean. Here's hoping to save even more cats and kittens in 2007!
International Adoption!
We had our first out-of-country adoption to Canada this week. This family was looking for a wonderful boat-companion and found that in Dewey, a terrier here in Indiana. They write... "Our hunch about Dewey was right. She is everything we had hoped and more. Good news: she doesn't shed and isn't afraid of water... so she will be a great sailor girl! FYI: Crossing customs took about 1 minute and no paperwork. Declaring a rescue dog... woof, woof from Ginger... have a good trip! Thanks for rescuing these precious little characters."
Cat Room Renovations
The cat room has had some major renovations lately. This picture shows the new drop ceiling - so perfect for keeping the heat in! Matt has also recently put in new flooring that is so much easier to clean! It is just amazing what new tops and bottoms for a room can do to make everything more comfortable and easier to work in!
Santa Photos at Petsmart
Please help us help the animals by coming to the Terre Haute Petsmart the first, second and third Sat/Sun in December from 11-3. Bring your pets (furry, hairy, fluffy, prickly, feathered, or scaly) and have your his/her picture taken with Santa and $5 will be donated to Rescue Farm! It's an easy way to help save more lives!
Partnerships
Rescue Farm has partnerships with other shelters to take animals that otherwise might not have a chance at life. The two shelters that we work with most often are Brown County Humane and Indianapolis Care and Control. After seeing an adorable litter of puppies with their mom each week in Indy, we were heartbroken to find out that the mom was put to sleep due to her behaviors when the pups were only four weeks old. We decided to take in these babies and make sure that the pups had a happy future. We are now (November 19, 2006) the proud rescuers of 11 adorable little boxer mix pups who will be ready for adoption in a few weeks!
Canine Express
On October 26, we sent 13 homeless dogs on the CanINE Express. Each month, since December '04, Rescue Farm has been sending 10-20 dogs on this transport. Knowing that these dogs will find amazing homes within 3-5 days at the East Coast Shelters means that Rescue Farm can take in more dogs slated for euthanasia in our local shelters! A big thank-you to Cathi Eagan for setting up this life-saving program and allowing us to participate.
Adoption goal reached!
Rescue Farm set a goal for itself this year: to have 600 adoptions by December 31, 2006. Here it is only the end of October, and a full two months early we have PASSED that goal! We've had such a busy week that not only did we hit 600 adoptions this past week, but we are now at 611! That means that we have saved two lives for every day so far this year! If you would like to help even more animals, please look at our adoptable animals to see if you find a great match or use the link on the left to donate to the animals' supplies and vet care! All of our animals thank you and hope for Happy Tails of their own!
New Mascot: Spot
Rescue Farm has a new mascot! Spot had previously been the mascot at an Indianapolis fire station, but due to medical issues it was felt that he would do better at a place like the Farm where he could get ongoing help with his medical needs. Spot is not available for adoption - he will live his life at The Farm. If you would like to help with his care, please make a donation.
Cat Room Progress!
The cat room is really shaping up! We've bought and installed new lighting and insulated the ceiling. Rescue Farm has also recently bought plexiglas panels for the walls and new flooring to make the whole room easier to clean and disinfect! The kitties temporary home is getting more comfortable all the time. If you would like to donate to our cat room projects, please click the "Make a Donation" button on the left side of this page - our cats thank you!
